Collaborate on campus
B-Innovative is a student-run non-profit incubator that fosters entrepreneurship on the Binghamton University campus. Interested students can plan their business ideas with members of the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation staff.
Located in Old Rafuse, the rooms provide space for a range of activities, from brainstorming business models to building prototypes.
One of the start-ups fostered by the B-Innovative Incubator is CConnect, an app that streamlines campus events. The app gauges individual students’ interests by allowing them to swipe right on categories including “sports” and “art.” Then, each user is presented with events that match their interests.
Tremayne Stewart ‘17, the founder of CConnect, is now employed by Google as a software engineer, but the app continues to operate on campus.
“[The idea was] what if we have a system that learned the type of events you like to go to, and then went all by itself and found those events for you, then presented them to you and then reminded you about them as they were happening throughout the day,” Stewart said in an interview with Pipe Dream.
