Binghamton University is a premier public university dedicated to enriching the lives of people in the region, state, nation, and world through discovery and education and to being enriched by partnerships with those communities.
With that mission in mind, the seeds for the Koffman Incubator were planted in 2012, when Binghamton University teamed up with SUNY Broome, Broome County, the city of Binghamton, and state and federal officials to imagine a facility located in the city’s urban core dedicated to providing the infrastructure needed for companies focusing on energy, electronics and health.
The OFfice of Entrepreneurship and Innovation partnerships
Housed at the Innovative Technologies Complex on the Binghamton University campus, the Office of E&IP seeks to foster and promote Innovation both on and off campus. They provide resources to aid in the success of local entrepreneurs; students, faculty, staff and community members alike. E&IP oversees Intellectual Property protection through the Technology Transfer team on-campus and manage the Koffman Incubator In Downtown Binghamton.
By utilizing the resources and world-class talent at Binghamton University, the Office of E&IP provides managerial oversight to the Koffman incubator as well as programming and resources for its members. Their Accelerator Program progresses fledgling startups to confident businesses. Their XCEED program provides strategic resources to Clean Tech companies. The National Science Foundation Funded I-Corps set of ShortCourses takes researches through the process of customer discovery.
